Description: Outbound is an original track created by myself and fellow members of my band Glen Catherine. Our time in the studio together was initially going to be a recorded jam session, but we ended up coming up with an entire chart to record and mix. My work as an engineer was in collaboration with my friend and fellow band member Bradley Rich, and while we both had a substantial role in the control room with DAW operation, patching, and mixing, I was primarily responsible for choosing and placing microphones.
Areas for Improvement: Several instrument mics had the gain too high (Sax, right piano mic, etc). Several drum microphones had issues (hat, kick) which we ultimately gave up on due to time constraints, but the overheads made up for a lot of the lost sound.
