WHO I AM
Hello! My name is Stephen Elsinger, and I am a 21 year old multi-instrumentalist, composer, and creator, originally from Lakeville, Minnesota. For as long as I can remember, music has been my greatest passion in life. I began learning piano at a young age (as well as more instruments over the years), but I learned very quickly that original music creation was my strongest talent. This led me to pursue instruction in composition, and later inspired my interest in music technology and recording.
My music is heavily influenced by genres such as classical, jazz, cinematic, and electronic music. I take pride in my versatility, and am always looking for something new to guide my work.
I received my initial education in composition at MacPhail Center for Music from Dr. Sarah Miller, and am currently a junior at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, pursuing a Bachelor of Music (BM) in Composition. My most recent composition professors include Bright Sheng, Kristin Kuster, and Michael Daugherty.
While at Michigan, I am prioritizing collaboration with others above all else. I intend to compose and produce many works in these four years, and connecting with my fellow students is a necessity for this goal to be achieved.
Please, join me as I navigate my musical education and the world of music at large!
